Gillnetter Pub – Pitt Burger

007I had a groupon for this pub so I decided to go out today to try their burger. When it came, I  asked, “who stabbed my burger” But thee knife if just there to hold everything together. The burger is described as “6oz charbroiled prime rib patty, topped with cheddar cheese & bacon, served with  mayo and our special sauce”
When I took my first bite, I could tell immediately that it was was cooked over a flame — I love that flavour. The burger was big and tasted great. I’d go back. The burger cost $11.95, so it sneaks in the cheapest category. !

Burger Burger – 6oz Burger

Well, I was in New West today and I wanted a fast lunch. Unfortunately, I came here. Sorry, I shouldn’t be so harsh; I mean for what I paid for ($4.45 + $0.85 for bacon and $0.85 for cheese), the burger was decent – good bun, not too greasy, ok taste. Its just not on par with an awesome hamburger and I’ve had my fair share of those ! I shouldn’t diss this place to much – They’re friendly, fast and cheap. Ive got to say, for the price, this is a winner. Overall, for burger quality, it doesn’t stack up, but of course, you’ll pay double for a awesome burger in this town. Burger Burger is located on 6th Street in New Westminster.

Stackhouse Burger Bar – Stackhouse Burger

Stackhouse BurgerIMG_5095

I had some extra time for lunch today, so I decided to try Stackhouse Burger Bar. I heard it was getting some good reviews, so I just had to try it. I had the Stackhouse Burger, which is described as “6.5 oz local prime rib patty with pancetta, portabellini, Guinness cheddar, chipotle aioli and butter lettuce served on a brioche bun” I had their lunch special (from 11-3 pm) – the burger only cost $10 and it comes with fries or salad. This burger delivered on every level – it was cooked and seasoned perfectly, the pancetta was great and the bun was great. It just tasted great ! Not many places serve prime rib burgers, so this was a treat. They also have a Kobe burger that I must try !! Even at the full price of $15 this burger is a big winner, but at $10 it is out of this world – one of the best values in the city ! I’ll be back for sure !

Red Robin – Guacamole Bacon Burger

Red RobinIMG_4251

I’ve been to Red Robin many times, but not since I started this blog. They advertise as Canada’s Gourmet Burger Restaurant. T o tell you the truth, I’ve never had a bad burger here – They just know how to make a good burger. This time was no exception. I had the Guacamole Bacon Burger, which is described as having: zesty guacamole and thick sliced applewood smoked bacon topped with melted Swiss cheese, red onions, lettuce, tomatoes & mayo. Not much to say here – The burger was cooked fast, tasted great and I’ll come back ! The price was around $11.50 before tax.

Cannibal Cafe – American Classic Burger

Cannibal Cafe

There’s a new burger joint on Commercial Drive (1818) and its name is the Cannibal Cafe and they serve beef, not human, so its safe. I had their American Classic Burger, which comprises of a 6 oz house-made burger (or 2-3 oz patties if you prefer), with American cheese (processed), tomato, onion, iceberg lettuce, house ketchup, stone-ground mustard and mayo. I substituted for real cheddar cheese and added bacon and avocado for an extra $1 each. NOTE, with the additions, the price goes into the next category. As the meat is ground in house, you have the option to have it done to your preference – I had mine done medium – In retrospect, I should have have it med well, as I didn’t really like the blood dripping in the bun. Overall, the burger was very good, perfectly cooked and well presented. Bottom line… sure, I’d go back here again !

Five Guys Burgers and Fries – Bacon Cheese Burger

Five Guys BurgerFive Guys

Ive been wanting to try this place out for a while now. They opened up a restaurant in Freemont Village in Port Coquitlam so I decided to take the plunge. When entering the restaurant, someone yells “DOOR”. You then have the option of a hamburger, cheeseburger or bacon cheeseburger and there are about 15 free toppings to choose from. The burger was great – very tasty – not too greasy. I will definitely be going back here !

And, from now on, I won’t be ranking my burgers – I’ll just say whether I’ll go back or not.

Splitz – Legendary Splitz Burger – Double Stacker

Double Stacker Burgersplitz10-003-1024x682

Was referred to this place by another hamburger joint. Must say, I was hungry and it was a long time since I had a burger, so I had their double stacker – that’s 2/3 pound – that’s 10 2/3 ounces !! This burger was great – they use shredded cheese like another place I’ve been to and it really brings out the cheese flavour – makes sense – more surface area, more flavour. I couldn’t believe I ate the whole thing – it was really good. I wasn’t hungry for another 10 hours ! I would go back here any day and recommend it for anyone who likes burgers. I can’t remember the price for the burger alone, but with the extra cost for cheese, bacon, fries and a drink, the whole thing cost $16.74 – Can’t compare this with my other prices listed, as this was a double stacker and came with fries and a drink – The cost before all the extras is just in line with most burger joints. The photo doesn’t give the burger justice – must have had bad lighting !

Burger55 – Classic Beef Burger

Burger 55 BurgerBurger 55

Well, I had a recent trip to the great town of Penticton and before going I researched to find a great burger place. What I came up with was Burger55. This little restaurant, which has been in business for about two years, delivers some serious food. To say the least, I was not disappointed. Upon entry, you grab a clipboard and design your own burger. I had mine with an Angus Burger, tomato, lettuce, pickle, banana peppers, Canadian Back Bacon, aged cheddar cheese, the 55 Signature spread all on a cracked wheat bun. The burger was cooked to order and all the ingredients were fresh. Oh my gawd – I sunk my teeth into this beauty and enjoyed every bite – it tasted so good. I can’t wait to come back ! This burger would stand up to almost anything I’ve had before.

Milestones – American Burger

Milestones burgerMilestones

Well, I haven’t had a burger in a while and its been 8 hours since my last meal. I had some time to kill and I was hungry, so I decided to try Milestones. I had the Milestone’s Beef Burger with the ‘American’ inspired toppings – that is double smoked bacon and cheddar. The burger is described as coming with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle on a toasted sesame seed bun. I added their avocado salsa for an extra $1.99 – that was not worth it – I would rather have plain fresh avocado.

When I got the burger, it looked amazing – the beef was thick and juicy and the bacon was overflowing ! The taste was great and I actually thought to myself, where’s the bun? – this is not a bad thing. The burger filled me and satisfied me very much. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back. The only negative I would say is that I think they butter the buns prior to toasting – as many places do. I personally find this overdoes the grease factor – I mean, we already have the burger grease and the mayo – we don’t need anymore. But that was a minor issue – wouldn’t stop me from going back in a heartbeat – And of course – I could have asked for no butter on the bun, as I usually do ! – My fault there !

Point Pub – Point Burger

The Point Burger2524 St Johns Street, Port Moody, BC.

Today, I went to the Point Pub with a 2 for 1 coupon, only to find out that we could not use the coupon for burgers – what a drag.
Anyways, the burger arrived, looked quite good – it was open and had lettuce, tomato, red onion and a pickle. I added bacon for an extra $2.00 (twice as much as most places charge). At first, the burger tasted good, but as I went on the sauce overtook the burger and made it just so-so. Overall, not a terrible burger – one of the better pub burgers I have had, but I haven’t had too many. The burger is a house made 1/2 pounder and you can tell – The burger is not round at all ! – which isnt a bad thing. Nice to see places making their own burgers.
